Die Bühne im Bauhaus

Oskar Schlemmer, László Moholy-Nagy, Farkas Molnár

€59.00

Published in 1925, the book sets out the essentials of the Bauhaus conception of the stage. The Bauhaus stage was that of the Weimar years, and Oskar Schlemmer shaped it decisively: after taking over the stage workshop in 1923, he set it against Expressionist theatre. In the same year László Moholy-Nagy, who was interested in abstract kinetic and light-based phenomena, was appointed to the Bauhaus, while Farkas Molnár concerned himself above all with stage architecture. Walter Gropius's afterword, written in 1961 for the American edition The Theater of the Bauhaus, looks back at the tasks and achievements of the Bauhaus stage and at his own experimental work as an architect.
