Netzwerk Campana
Provenienz, Erforschung und Rezeption der römischen architektonischen Tonreliefs der Berliner Antikensammlung
€158.00
Roman architectural terracotta reliefs — so-called Campana reliefs — allow research to do what is otherwise rarely possible: although these ancient pieces were traded on the art market, they can in part be traced back to their original find spots. This makes it possible to reconstruct not only their paths into museum collections but also the networks behind them. The example of the Berlin Antikensammlung offers insights into various phases of the art trade in Italy and Germany from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. The Berlin museum also provided decisive impulses for the study and reception of the reliefs in the early twentieth century.
